Deputy Chief Michael Jenkins is pleased to announce that East Bridgewater Public Safety Dispatcher Conner McDermott will run the 2023 Boston Marathon.
McDermott, a full-time public safety dispatcher and reserve police officer for the East Bridgewater police department, will run the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 17 for the Gavin Foundation.
McDermott will be running alongside his sister Jordan, who is a teacher at the Indian Head School in Hanson. This year, they will run together for the Gavin Foundation in memory of their late uncle, Billie Yakubowicz, who was one of the many success stories that went through the foundation’s program.
This will be McDermott’s first marathon and his sister’s fifth.
“We’re so proud of Conner for taking on this challenge in support of the foundation’s worthy cause and in honor of his late uncle,” said East Bridgewater Deputy Chief Jenkins. “Conner has dedicated much of his time to training for the marathon and raising funds for the Gavin Foundation, and we greatly look forward to seeing his hard work pay off this coming Monday. We will be rooting him on throughout the marathon, and we encourage others to cheer him on as well.”
